After we are done, you will feel like the area is more tight. We ask that you avoid heavy activity and exercise for 1 week after the procedure so that the threads can settle in your skin. Sleep with your head elevated for a few days and do not sleep on your stomach.
INSTALIFT™ & NOVA THREADS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS A THREAD LIFT?
A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin.
WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF A THREAD LIFT OVER A FACELIFT?
Thread lifts are non-surgical treatments without the need for sedation and have significantly less downtime than surgery.
They are not as expensive as surgery.
We use local anesthesia, so you can drive yourself to your appointment and most patients are able to get back to their daily lives quickly.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Very fine biodegradable sutures are placed deep into the skin and allow your provider to reposition sagging skin to a higher, more youthful position. The results are immediate and not painful. Your lift should last about 18-24 months.
HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT TAKE?
This will depend on what area we are treating, but most appointments will be within 20-60 minutes.
DOES A THREAD LIFT HURT?
We use local anesthesia to make this a comfortable procedure. Afterwards, most people may feel some tenderness but are able to get back to their daily lives almost immediately.
IS A THREAD LIFT SAFE?
Thread lifts are safe in the hands of a trained professional. There is very little risk of scarring, or severe bruising.
WHAT ARE THE SUTURES MADE OF?
Silhouette Instalift ™ is made from Polyglycolide/L-lactide (PLGA), which has a long history of use as a well-tolerated, resorbable suture. NovaThreads are absorbable Polydioxanone (PDO) threads, which also have a long history of biomedical applications, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery.
The suture design was developed by scientists in the USA using reconstructive and aesthetic surgical expertise. The suture acts as scaffolding under the surface of the skin to lift sagging soft tissues. The cones both hold the threads in place and in time stimulate the body’s production of collagen to replace depleted facial volume which diminishes with age.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Results are immediate and improve over the next 2 weeks.
HOW MUCH LIFT CAN I EXPECT?
Your level of lift will be determined by your level of skin laxity, and the number and location of sutures placed.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
The unique sutures cause the production of collagen to aid in healthy skin renewal for natural-looking, long-lasting results. The unique sutures will naturally be absorbed by your body and can be expected to last 18-24 months. The sutures eventually dissolve and natural aging continues, just as it would if you had no treatment or had a surgical lift.
AM I A CANDIDATE?
If you have areas of laxity or wrinkles and lines that you want to address, thread lifts are a great treatment. They are not a good treatment for someone with a significant amount of laxity as they will only lift the skin a few millimeters and create a more subtle and natural looking end result than facelift surgery.
Thread lifts are best suited to patients who are dealing with mild to moderate, rather than severe, signs of skin laxity.
