Intense Pulse Light

Intense Pulse light (IPL), also known as Broad Band Light (BBL) or Photofacials, are one of our most popular treatments for brown and red pigment under the skin. By selecting the right wavelength we can target rosacea, redness, and blood vessels, as well as unwanted brown spots from sun damage and melasma. We can treat the signs of sun damage anywhere on the body with IPL, making it a very effective and versatile treatment. IPL also helps to improve the tone and texture of your skin for a healthy looking glow. We can use IPL to treat unwanted hair since the broadband light targets brown pigment in your hair follicle. You may also notice an improvement in the texture and tone of your skin as the light stimulates slight collagen production. Read More

Commonly Asked Questions:

How long will my appointment take?
Most appointments take 30-40 minutes, depending on the areas you are having treated.

Does IPL hurt?
IPL treatments are not painful and feel like a rubber band snap with every pulse of light delivered to your skin. This sensation goes away very quickly. Most people describe this as a very tolerable and not painful treatment.

Is IPL safe?
IPL is a safe treatment in the hands of an experienced professional. Because the light targets brown pigment in the skin, it is not appropriate for people of color or if you have a tan since the light may target and remove the color in your skin. We recommend avoiding IPL at least 2 weeks before going into the sun and at least 2 weeks after having been in the sun.

What should I expect during my treatment?
Prior to the treatment, Our nurses will take pictures so you can track your progress at the beginning of each session. They will then apply a topical numbing cream to make the procedure more comfortable. Once ready for the treatment, they will apply an ultrasound gel to your skin and place metal goggles on you to protect your eyes. During the treatment, you will see a bright light and feel a slight stinging sensation similar to a rubber band snap on your skin.

Afterward, we will apply a cream to promote healing and a mineral based sunscreen to protect you from the sun. You may be slightly pink or swollen for a couple of hours.

When will I see results?
Brown pigment will come up like black pepper flakes and falls off within 3-7 days. Your redness will fade over the next 2-4 weeks. You may resume daily activities immediately after the treatment making this a true no downtime procedure. We recommend 3-6 treatments spaced 1 month apart for the best results

How long will my results last?
Your results will depend on your skin type and the sun damage you have developed under your skin. Over time, genetic redness and new pigment from sun exposure history may start to surface and will require maintenance treatments every 3-6 months.

Am I a candidate?
If you have brown spots, signs of sun damage, uneven skin tone, redness, rosacea or melasma, IPL may be a good treatment for you. It is a great maintenance treatment for improving and maintaining overall tone and texture. It is not, however, the right choice if you are darker skinned or are tan. It is best to discuss this with one of our trained providers.

Years ago, laser resurfacing meant weeks of downtime and months of redness. With advances in laser technology, fractional resurfacing has emerged as one of the most exciting developments in cosmetic medicine. By combining fractional technology with the depth of tissue penetration possible with CO2 lasers, we can achieve significant improvement in skin texture and tighten with less than 1 week of social downtime.

The Fractional CO2 Laser is Ideal to Treat the Following Conditions:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Crows feet around the eyes

  • Frown lines and lines around the mouth (pucker’s lines)

  • Brown spots and splotchy, uneven skin tone
  • Acne Scars
  • Most people achieve significant results with just one treatment. You will notice immediate skin tightening, reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and a noticeable improvement in skin tone and texture within one week of your treatment. Over the next 6 months you will continue to tighten as collagen is remodeled under your skin. People with severe acne scarring may need more than one treatment depending on the depth of their scars.

What can I expect?
You will start with a skin care consultation to determine what treatment is right for you. The ActiveFX is more superficial and is an ideal treatment for fine lines, texture, and pigment. The DeepFX goes deeper to treat deeper lines and scars. By combining these two, you get the TotalFX package. We can, therefore, customize treatments to target specific areas of concern and tailor it to fit within your lifestyle. On the day of the treatment, we will apply a topical numbing cream. You will feel like you have had a sunburn for the first 2-3 hours and will start flaking within the first 3-4 days. You should have a nice healthy pink glow by the end of your first week.

Who should consider this treatment?

  • If you want to treat fine lines and wrinkles
  • If you want to treat acne scarring
  • If you have brown discoloration or sun damaged skin

Why should we care about Vaginal Health? Vaginal health is important to discuss and treat because 50% of post-menopausal women will experience symptoms of Vulvovaginal Atrophy (VVA), and only 36% of women will discuss these symptoms with their healthcare provider. Vulvovaginal Atrophy can also be associated with stress urinary incontinence. Click the arrow to learn more.

More and more women are experiencing symptoms of an aging vaginal wall and now with this simple, painless and effective treatment, we can help.

What are the signs of an aging vaginal wall or VVA?
Vaginal dryness due to loss of moisture and poor lubrication: (55%)
Pain with intercourse 44%
Vaginal burning and irritation (37%)
Tenderness (17%)
Negative effect on enjoyment of sex (59-72%)
Negative impact on overall sexual health with decreased sexual drive
Negative impact on ability to be intimate (62%)
Negative impact on quality of life

Who is affected by VVA?
Post-menopausal women
Women on hormone therapy, such as tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors, for breast cancer. These therapies give women menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats and vaginal dryness.

How does it work?
We use the same laser technology we use to treat the aging face to treat the aging vagina. Fractional CO2 laser beams create small areas of injury to help rejuvenate and restore your vagina to a pre-menopausal state. Patients experienced less vaginal pain, dryness, and irritation, as well as a decreased risk of infection, an improvement in stress urinary incontinence and decreased pain with sex. 91% of patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the procedure and experienced considerable improvement in the quality of life with minimal discomfort with the procedure. 85% not sexually active because of VVA severity at baseline regained a normal sexual life at 12 weeks follow up

Laser Assisted Hair Removal
Laser Assisted Hair Removal

Laser Assisted Hair Removal

Laser hair removal (LHR) uses a low-energy laser to gently remove unwanted hair, putting an end to routine shaving and waxing. This advanced new technology transcends older, more painful hair removal treatments to deliver long-lasting results with 80-85% permanent hair reduction. Read More

LHR targets the brown pigment in the hair follicle so it does not treat blonde, red, gray or white hair. Hair cycles between three phases: a growing phase (anagen), a resting phase (telogen) and a falling out phase (catagen). Since lasers target the brown pigment in the hair follicle while it is in a growing phase (anagen phase), we will need to treat the hair multiple times while it cycles through these phases. Do not wax or pluck the hair as this will pull out the target for the laser, the hair follicle. You can shave or use a clipper to treat the hair prior to treatment.

Because the laser treats more than one hair at a time, it is possible to treat larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs, and areas on your face. After a series of treatments, laser hair removal leaves your skin looking and feeling smoother and silkier. Best of all, laser treatments for hair removal are safe, fast, gentle and effective for all skin types with our lasers. Whether you are embarrassed by facial hair, suffer from ingrown hairs and folliculitis, or are tired of shaving or waxing your bikini or underarms, LHR is a great gift to yourself.

Commonly Asked Questions:

How long will my appointment take?
Most appointments take 15 minutes to an hour depending on the area we are treating.

Does LHR hurt?
LHR treatments are not painful and feel like a rubber band snap with every pulse of the laser delivered to your skin. This sensation goes away very quickly and is very tolerable. We offer numbing cream to make this more comfortable for you. Areas that have more hair, like a bikini area, are more uncomfortable during the first treatment due to the amount of hair being treated but improve significantly with subsequent treatments.

Is LHR safe?
LHR is a safe treatment in the hands of an experienced professional. Our lasers are safe to use in all skin types. People with darker skin will need more treatments since the laser we use has to safely bypass the natural pigment in their skin and get to the hair follicle without causing skin discoloration. We recommend avoiding LHR for at least 2 weeks before going into the sun and at least 2 weeks after having been in the sun.

What should I expect during my treatment?
Prior to the treatment, Our nurses will apply a topical numbing cream to make the procedure more comfortable.

With every treatment, you will notice a decrease in the amount of hair, the thickness of the hair, and how often the hair grows back. You may not see 100% hair removal but should expect up to 80-85% permanent reduction in hair. Depending on your skin type and the area being treated, we recommend 3-10 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart.

How long will my results last?
Your results will depend on your skin type and the area being treated. Since hair grows in cycles and you may need to have maintenance treatments 1-2 times a year.

Am I a candidate?
If you have brown or black hair, LHR will be an effective treatment for you. If you have white, gray, red or blond hair, other options such as Dermaplaning or topical Vaniqa may be more appropriate options for you.

Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic Therapy

PDT has been most extensively studied for the treatment pre-cancerous lesions. Many patients with Actinic Keratoses find this in-office procedure preferable to, and more time-efficient than, the home-applied topical creams. A few treatment sessions can usually significantly reduce or clear a large area of pre-cancers. We can also use PDT to treat resistant acne for people who do not want to use accutane or are resistant to traditional therapies. Read More.

What are the benefits of PDT?

  • Reduction in pre-cancers (Actinic Keratoses)
  • Reduction of acne lesions
  • Reduction of pore size
  • More even skin tone

What are the treatments and recovery like?
PDT is usually spaced at four-week intervals. Treatment regimens vary from patient to patient depending on the condition being treated. You will receive a topical application of ALA solution prior to your treatment session. PDT can cause mild to moderate pain during treatments. After the treatment mild to severe redness, blistering and scabbing can occur. These effects depend on how long the ALA solution is left on, how much light is used, and which light source is used to activate the ALA. The worst cases heal like a severe sunburn over a few days.

It is important for patients to avoid all bright light sources (including going outdoors, proximity to windows or skylights or even exposure to bright indoor lights) for 48 hours after treatment. Otherwise, you may resume normal activities immediately. After treatment, there may also be some discomfort. The skin may appear flushed, brown spots may be darker and tiny veins may be more visible. This will usually diminish over the next couple of days.

What results can I expect?
After each PDT session, you will experience some improvement in skin tone and texture. There will be a decrease in the overall redness and flushing. Pre-cancers and sunspots will fade; pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles can gradually decrease in size as the new collagen forms beneath the skin. These improvements will continue to increase with each treatment.
